Our catering kitchen is located in Markham. All our lunches are prepared and packaged from our kitchen and dispatched to all participating schools prior to lunch time.
Nut-Free Kitchen
Kids Kitchen runs a 'nut-free' kitchen meaning we do not have any nuts or nut products on our premises, nor do we cook with them. We do our best to source products that are nut-free, however, we cannot guarantee that products from our suppliers have not come in any contact with nuts.
Allergies & Special Diets
We take special care in preparing lunches for children with allergies and special dietary restrictions. Where possible we will accommodate special requests.
Health Inspections
Our catering kitchen is inspected and fully approved by the York Region Health Department. Health inspections are conducted by the York Region Health Department on a random basis at least 3-4 times a year.
Items inspected include:
- Storage of refrigerated and frozen foods - equipment in working order, thermometers installed and units maintained at the appropriate temperatures
- Cooking/holding hot foods - equipment in working order, foods cooked to suitable levels
- Food handlers - washing hands, using utensils, cleanliness, hair suitably confined
- Protection from contamination - i.e., raw foods stored separately, covered, chemicals stored separately, everything stored 15cm above the floor
- Garbage & waste management - insect/vermin proof containers, frequent removal of waste
- Pest control - adequate protection against pests
- Sanitary maintenance and construction - floors, walls, ceilings in good repair, appropriate ventilation and lighting, general housekeeping
